Learning fun

I have been looking at different blogs to get ideas for educational things to do with the boys. I am planning on homeschooling Rylan this fall for kindergarten so I am just getting the ideas flowing. I am also planning to do some preschool activities for Carsten, so I am looking for those ideas as well. It is amazing how many blogs are out there with great ideas! I decided to try a few of them out. I made some changes because I wanted to use items I already had in my house. Here are a some pictures of how it went. I think the boys loved it!

Count the beads: I wrote numbers on the inside of an egg carton and told Rylan to put the correct number of beads in each cup. He did great counting with numbers from 0-11.

Color Match: I colored the inside of an egg carton with six different colors, each found twice. I gave Carsten the corresponding pom-poms and told him to put them in the cup that was the same color. He did great!

Match the sound: I put the letters A-E on a mason jar. I grabbed a bunch of different items from around the house and put them in a container. I told Rylan to put the object in the jar with the sound of the letter it started with. He would pick up each item and say what it was and try to make the sound it started with. He needed some help with a few like: a googly eye- he said, "that letter is not here." The English language does not help with this since we make a lot of the same sounds using different letters. He has done it a few times and he really enjoys it!

And here is what little Logan was doing while his big brothers were learning:

Crawling around, putting everything into his mouth!
